Dear Kindergarten Families;
I welcome you to the Kindergarten at St. Stanislaus Kostka School.
Your child's first year will be filled with sharing, friendship, religious formation, socialization and fundamental concepts of numbers and literacy competencies. All will be intertwined with art, music, science, social studies and many more wonderful extras.
He/she will be entering into a Kindergarten environment that has a regular routine and structure. This predictability will help your child to feel comfortable while taking risks as a learner as well as being fully engaged in his/her learning environment.
My goal is to have my students come to understand that mathematics and language arts are functional, purposeful and an integral part of daily life. My intention is to nurture and develop competence and confidence in each student as these skills evolve throughout the academic year.
The educational philosophy which I practice is that all children have the ability to succeed, each with their own talents and gifts. As their teacher my mission is to allow the special gifts from God to blossom, as I guide, nurture and coach. "For what a child can do with guidance today, he/she will achieve on his/her own tomorrow." (paraphrased) Vogotsky.
In addition, an education from St. Stanislaus Kostka School involves the whole child through its religious formation program. The Kindergarten curriculum develops empathy, honesty, forgiveness, prayer and a greater understanding of God's love for each of us as we grow in our Catholic faith.
I am optimistic that the year ahead will be enjoyable as well as successful.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
With God's Blessings,
Kristen Demeo
